2. Parr took this view of Turnberry Station Hotel from
the west. Designed by James Miller and opened in 1906,
the hotel was used during World War I as a hospital as well
as to house military personnel.

Parr’s room at the Turnberry Station Hotel, looking northwest
“right out over the Firth of Clyde and Irish Sea.” The
Turnberry light house is visible in the distance towards the
left.

5. Cadet and model plane at Turnberry. This photo
was probably taken on the machine gun range at Turnberry
where cadets practiced “sighting on model airplanes set at
various angles.” The cadet looks like Tommy
Herbert.
